Master Brow Artist and Esthetician Deep Sidhu started her journey into the world of beauty on her family’s farm in Punjab, India.
“We always had lots of workers and their kids on the farm back home. While the parents were working, I would do the kids’ makeup to pass the time. It was fun. It all started from there!”
What started as a playful pastime quickly turned into a lifelong passion. Today Deep is the successful owner of Brow Mastrz Beauty Hub, finding daily joy in creating beauty, using her skilful eye to “deliver a nice, natural lift without surgery”.
.
“The Global/Medical Esthetics Program changed my life. I mean, I own my own Medi Spa and Brow Bar now! It was amazing. I'm financially very strong and the experience improved my whole life. I have a much better life now.”

“That’s what I like to call it,” she smiles. “When it comes to brows, I am a very realistic artist. I don’t know how I do it sometimes, but the brows always come out perfectly. I don’t go too much into the shape. I don’t move a lot. Even when a client’s eyebrows aren’t good, after a few visits, I can make them more natural. Although I’m a semi-permanent brow artist, I feel strongly about fixing the natural brows first.”
She speaks about her work and her business with the relaxed confidence of a seasoned expert who has earned her title.
“I did not pick my business name. My clients call me the Brow Master! I wanted to lean into what I’ve become known for.”
.
“I already knew from studying Freelance Makeup at Blanche Macdonald that it was a great school and that I’d had a great experience. So I returned to study Esthetics.”

As with all great career journeys, Deep’s path to recognition wasn’t always clear, but her goal was: she wanted to be her own boss.
“I always wanted to be self-employed. I always wanted to make my own bed, to make my own living. I’ve never wanted to be a housewife or rely on others to survive. Fifteen years ago, I started from scratch. Now, with my education and experience, I’ve built a successful business and a loyal clientele.”
Before coming to Vancouver in 2010 as a skilled worker, Deep was a hairstylist in India. However, she quickly realized that the hairstyling industry in Canada differed significantly from what she had been familiar with. She took decisive action to pivot to other beauty services, starting with her childhood favourite: makeup.

Deep enrolled in Blanche Macdonald’s Freelance Makeup Program, where she began to upgrade her beauty skills. Here she developed a keen interest in brows and Esthetics.
“While studying Freelance Makeup, I rented a chair in a hair salon where I started doing brows two or three days a week. At first, I thought I’d be a freelance makeup artist. However, I realized I have a strong interest in skin treatments. I already knew from studying at Blanche Macdonald that it was a great school and that I’d had a great experience. So I returned to study Esthetics.”
.
“I loved learning facials at Blanche. It provided an important foundation for the advanced work I wanted to do in my own business.”

Deep valued the Esthetics Program’s flexible schedule, allowing her to balance intensive hands-on training with her busy work schedule. Ever ambitious, Deep continued growing her client base at the hair salon while also beginning work at a brow bar.
The Esthetics program was transformative, empowering Deep to confidently expand her advanced medical esthetics skillset and services.

She reflects on her time at Blanche with a smile. “The Global/Medical Esthetics Program changed my life a lot. I mean, I own my own Medi Spa and Brow Bar now! It was amazing. I’m financially very strong and the experience improved my whole life. I have a much better life now.”
After graduating, Deep’s dreams of business ownership were taking on a life of their own. “I was managing the brow bar’s three locations. Meanwhile, at the hair salon, I was already self-employed. My clientele was growing and I had 2 employees working for me. It seemed like I was just taking over!”
.
“A few years ago, I was looking for jobs. And now, I’ve created jobs for six people. They're happy and that makes me feel happy, that I could provide a thriving, fun environment where they want to work. We’re a team, we’re a family.”
.
“Her nail art? My God, it’s mind-blowing!” Kuldeep praises Blanche Macdonald Nail Program graduate and Brow Mastrz employee Hailey Bornais, above, working her magic.

Deep knew the time was ripe to take the plunge and devote herself to her business vision.
“My husband is an incredibly supportive man. He agreed that I needed to focus on my business. So I left my jobs. I didn’t take out a business loan or borrow from family. I built up Brow Mastrz immediately with my own money and an established clientele. And sure enough, on opening day, we had bookings! My clients came to support my new business and more came through word of mouth. We were busy right away, while the paint was still drying!”
.
“For me, success isn’t just about doing well financially. I’ve got a name here. My clients and the people around me see my success; they are proud and I feel so honoured.”

.
At Brow Mastrz, Deep is thriving, cultivating a vibrant atmosphere where laughter and connection flow freely among her team and clients. This is delightfully evidenced on the Brow Mastrz Instagram account, where clients enthusiastically participate in fun promotional antics.
Deep and her team provide an impressive variety of beauty services at Brow Mastrz, creating a complete beauty experience, from head to toe. They specialize in brows and lashes with threading and mapping, henna, nano, and ombre brows, and lash extensions. A few years ago, I was looking for jobs. And now, I’ve created jobs for six people. Here, in an expensive city, my employees are doing great and thriving. “When I walk in the store, there’s laughter and talking already, even at 10 am. All six of us are there, busy and smiling. It’s my happy space,” she beams proudly.
