Founded in 1913 with a reputation for crafting impeccable suits for celebrities, Modernize Tailors is a Vancouver institution located in the heart of Chinatown. When legendary owner Bill Wong passed in April 2017, the shop was handed over to his intern, Blanche Macdonald Fashion Design program graduate Mia Wu. Now, Mia continues the legacy of Modernize, creating high quality garments. Her mission? To turn Modernize to the leading tailoring house in Vancouver and across Canada.
Nails
Fostered by her love for Japanese nail art and inspired by Nail program grad and Salon owner Keiko Matsui, Catherine set out to open her very own private luxury salon known as Sunday Beauty Boutique in Vancouver's stylish Kitsilano neighbourhood.

Discovering the fascinating career as a Mechandiser while in Fashion School has led Maria from TOPSHOP to Holt Renfrew in Vancouver and now ARKET in the UK!

Winnipeg-born Victoria Ferguson stumbled upon Blanche Macdonald and dove head first into the thrilling world of TV&Film Makeup Artistry. Her perseverance and open-minded approach helped make her an in-demand artist for top shows and dramas including The Good Doctor, Lost in Space, Supernatural and Van Helsing, and propelled her to create her very own skincare line!

MAKE UP FOR EVER Makeup Artists Alexandre Deslauriers and Marilyne Foisy joined us at our Atelier campus for a day centred on fashion beauty. Through two outstanding presentations, these star artists demonstrated the difference between avant-garde and editorial makeup for our captivated students.
Global Fashion Marketing
Fashion's visual and creative nature has always been interesting to Myla ever since she was young. Straight out of high school, Myla attended Blanche Macdonald's 1-year Fashion Marketing program. Now, she thriving in Toronto, responsible for telling stories and authentic to Canadian legacy fashion brand, Roots, as the company's Brand Marketing Manager.
Tanya Howard knows the value of hard work. Her legendary discipline, warm disposition and gift for makeup have brought her a long way. She first began working with Makeup in community theatre productions on Vancouver Island. Now Tanya is the Head of the Makeup Department on the set of hit TV & Film productions. You can see her handywork on productions like Arrow, Wayward Pines, The 100, Emily Owens MD and Human Target.

Hair
For as long as she can remember, Camille Pettit has been passionate about all hair. Growing up in Kelowna, BC, Camille resolved that she would be become a Hairstylist at the age of four. Now, she's living that dream. After training in our Pro Hair program, Camille got her start working in a salon on Commercial Drive before moving back to the Okanagan. These days, you'll find her serving up everything from gorgeous hairstyles, to men's cuts and bridal updos at Plan B Salon & Barbershop.
