Scouting, Showrooms, and Socials: Ataija Alexander’s Fashion Marketing Career

Blanche Macdonald’s Fashion Marketing program was a great gateway for entering the fashion industry. My favourite part about the Fashion Marketing program was forming amazing connections. From teachers who mentored me to have confidence in my passions to all the amazing friends I made along the way, I’m grateful that Blanche has a wonderful career department that supports its students in their endeavours. Since graduating, I’ve started working at Lizbell Agency and as a studio assistant at the brand, Power of My People. Both are incredible jobs that I love dearly.

“There’s always something new to learn or experience in fashion and fashion marketing. The industry is always changing, and you have the opportunity to grow with it.”

Power of My People is a small, local clothing brand specializing in responsibly made shirts and garments. As a studio assistant, I handle a wide variety of tasks. That’s the great part of working at a smaller company, you get the opportunity to work in all aspects of the business. This multi-faceted role juggles pre-production tasks like influencer scouting on Instagram with production duties like managing inventory and photoshoots. The most rewarding aspect is being on set, collaborating with the team to create stunning visuals.

“The most rewarding thing about working in fashion marketing is meeting so many incredible people and helping everyone connect. Seeing people work so hard to achieve their goals and succeed is the best!”

The role at Lizbell Agency offers a dynamic mix of tasks, from creative booking and website management to social media (I run our Artists Division Instagram) and event planning. Constantly connecting with inspiring people in the ever-evolving world of fashion is a highlight of this job!
